Institutional functions

Organizing out patient / lab services/ Emergency/ Referral services
Organizing OT services
Guidance in Treatment of minor ailments to PHC staff
Allocation of duties to PHC staff
Co-ordination with Referral institutions providing medical care
Coordination and facilitating the functioning of AYUSH doctor in the PHC.
Ensuring adequate supplies, proper storage of vaccine / miscellaneous items and
maintenance of cold chain equipment
Family Health Clinic
Drugs, Surgicals and other consumables Management
Supervision of all Services provided in PHC
Hands on Skills training to Staff
Preparation of operational plans and implementation to achieve targets in National Health and Family Welfare Programmes
Role in village health and sanitation plan - Assistance in the formulation and coordination with the PRIs .
Liaison with Block Development Officer and their staff, community leaders and various social welfare agencies in the promotion of health programmes in the area
FIELD FUNCTIONS

Visiting each Sub center , once in a fortnight for curative services
Organize and participate in the �Health day� at Anganwadi Centre once in a month
Conduction of field investigations to delineate local health problems for planning changes in the strategy of the effective delivery of Health and Family welfare services
DAILY DUTIES

MCH Services, Prophylaxis Schemes, Immunization Programme, Oral Rehydration Therapy in Diarrhoeal Diseases
Promotion of Institutional delivery and ensure 24x7 service delivery in PHC.
Provide leadership and guidance in Nutrition, prophylaxis against Nutritional anemia amongst mothers and children (1-5 years) Prophylaxis against blindness and Vitamin A deficiency amongst children (1-5 years).
Ensuring adequate supplies of equipment, drugs, educational material and contraceptives
Providing MCH services such as ante-natal, intra-natal and postnatal care of mothers and infants and child care
Effective implementation of the Nutrition Programmes and administration of Vitamin �A� , Iron & Folic Acid Tablets and coordination with ICDS.
Recording and reporting of all details due to diarrhea especially for children between 0 -5 years.
Organize wells to be chlorinated and coordination with sewage agency for sanitation.
Training of all health personnel regarding ORT programme
WEEKLY DUTIES

Plan and implement UIP
School visits at regular intervals and arrange for Medical Checkups, immunization and treatment with proper follow up to students
Visiting Noon meal / Community Nutrition/ Anganwadi centres
Sterilisation, IUD and MTP services
Review Meetings
Extending motivational advice to all eligible couples, get himself trained in tubectomy, organize and conduct tubectomy / Vasectomy camps.
Responsible for proper and successful implementation of Family Planning Programme in PHC area including education, motivation, delivery of services and after care and attention to any complications

Make arrangements/provide guidance in training programmes for indigenous dais practicing in the area and ASHAs where applicable
Administrative Work

Ensure cleanliness in and around the PHC and / proper maintenance of equipment/ transport services
Keep up to date inventory and stock register of all the stores, get indents for drugs, instruments, vaccines, ORS and contraceptive and their regular supply
Display of charts of geographical areas, location of peripheral health units, morbidity and mortality, health statistics
Monthly staff meetings
Maintenance of the prescribed records at PHC level
Receive reports from the periphery, compiling and submit them timely to district health authorities.
Maintaining notes of his/her visits to the area and submit every month his/her tour report to the CMO.
Discharge all the financial duties entrusted to him/her.
